Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abba, who is the founder and chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), also unveiled plans to mobilise two million supporters across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones in support of Tinubu.

He made the announcement on Friday during a press conference at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja.

Abba described his decision to support Tinubu as a personal political conviction, insisting that family relationships should not prevent individuals from making independent political choices.

He acknowledged that his position could attract public attention because of his father’s opposition political affiliation but maintained that he was comfortable with his decision to support the President and the APC-led administration.

“My decision to establish and lead the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation is a deliberate political choice, one I have made in my personal capacity and with a firm belief in the direction we have chosen to pursue,” he said.

According to him, the organisation was established to mobilise Nigerians who support Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda through grassroots engagement, community outreach and public awareness of government policies.

Explaining his support for the President, Abba cited interventions in the education sector through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), investments in road infrastructure and increased allocations to state governments through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

He also listed the N70,000 transportation support for public sector workers and other government interventions among the factors influencing his decision.

Although he acknowledged that the administration’s economic reforms had imposed difficult adjustments on Nigerians, he argued that the policies were intended to address longstanding structural challenges and promote sustainable economic growth.

As part of its planned interventions, HBTO announced plans to provide 10 luxury buses to ease transportation difficulties, beginning in the Federal Capital Territory before extending the initiative to other parts of the country.

Abba said the initiative was intended to demonstrate that political support should extend beyond public declarations to practical contributions that improve citizens’ welfare.

On its mobilisation strategy, he disclosed that the organisation would organise a two-million-man mobilisation march across the six geopolitical zones, with activities expected to begin in Abuja.

He said the organisation’s immediate priority was to support the FCT Minister in political mobilisation efforts and work towards securing victory for Tinubu in the territory.

The HBTO chairman also announced plans for a major mobilisation exercise in Rivers State next week, saying the organisation was activating its structures and supporters ahead of the event.

He added that HBTO would establish networks across the six geopolitical zones, strengthen its state and zonal structures and collaborate with other political groups to mobilise support for the President’s re-election.

“We intend to establish a presence across the geopolitical zones, strengthen our state and zonal structures, engage community stakeholders and work collaboratively with other progressive political forces towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he stated.

Abba urged political stakeholders, community leaders, youth organisations and women’s groups to join the organisation, saying it was committed to translating its political convictions into concrete action.

His declaration comes amid the political differences between his support for Tinubu and the opposition stance associated with his father, who is seeking to challenge the incumbent administration through the ADC.

However, Abba maintained that democracy thrives when individuals are free to make independent political decisions and support candidates whose policies and leadership they believe in.
