ACF EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER ACCUSATIONS OF UNETHICAL CONDUCT IN NIGERIA’S 10TH SENATE

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed concern over the emerging controversy in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The controversy surrounds an altercation between the Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, with allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation.

In a statement, National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, noted that the allegations have brought the Senate into disrepute and impacted the national and international public image of the Red Chamber. Muhammad-Baba stated that the interests of the people of Kogi Central are not being adequately represented in the 10th Senate due to the ongoing imbroglio.
The ACF has called for an independent, open, transparent, and thorough investigation into the matter, devoid of fear or favor. Muhammad-Baba emphasized the need for the Senate to return to its duty of lawmaking, especially during a period when citizens are facing dire living conditions due to public policies.

The ACF has also called on the Northern Caucus in the 10th Senate to rally around Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to ensure she receives a fair hearing. Furthermore, the ACF has urged the leadership and membership of the National Assembly to display exemplary behavior and integrity.
Muhammad-Baba concluded by emphasizing the need for the Senate to prioritize the interests of the Nigerian people and maintain a positive public image.
