Africa Independent Television (AIT), one of Nigeria’s foremost private broadcast stations, has closed its Lagos operations following severe financial and operational constraints. According to insider sources, the management of Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, RayPower FM, and Faaji FM, ordered the shutdown after it became impossible to sustain the Lagos office due to mounting maintenance costs and irregular staff payments.

A company insider stated, “The Lagos office was no longer viable because of the overwhelming financial burdens, including unpaid salaries and equipment upkeep. Management had no choice but to halt operations to stem further losses.” While AIT has ceased broadcasting from Lagos, both RayPower FM and Faaji FM remain on air and functional under the same ownership.

The closure represents a major setback for AIT, which historically operated one of the most active television bureaus in Lagos, serving as a key production and news center for national and international content. As of now, Daar Communications PLC has not released an official statement regarding the shutdown.
