Arsenal moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a commanding 3-0 victory over Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, while Manchester United booked their return to the Champions League after a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Arsenal’s victory was powered by a sensational first-half display that effectively settled the contest early. Viktor Gyokeres was the standout performer, scoring twice and setting up another goal. The forward opened the scoring after a sharp attacking move before combining brilliantly with Bukayo Saka, who marked his return from injury with a composed finish to double the lead. Before the interval, Gyokeres rose to meet a precise delivery from Leandro Trossard to add a third, leaving Fulham with a mountain to climb. In a statement following the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said, “We knew we had to be ruthless today. Gyokeres was exceptional, and having Bukayo back gives us another dimension. The title race is in our hands now.” Although Fulham showed more resilience after the break, Arsenal remained in command and saw out the game comfortably to secure maximum points. The result strengthens their position at the summit as the title race enters a crucial phase.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United secured Champions League qualification for next season after a dramatic 3-2 win over arch-rivals Liverpool. United were two goals up within 15 minutes through Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, but imploded after the break to allow Liverpool to level with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo. Just as the visitors appeared to have snatched a point, Kobbie Mainoo, who signed a new five-year contract this week, scored the winning goal with a composed finish from the edge of the box. Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick said after the match, “The character the boys showed today was incredible. To go 2-0 up, then lose the lead, but still find a way to win – that tells you everything about this group. Securing Champions League football is massive for this club, and I’m so proud of them.” United’s first league double over Liverpool since the 2015-16 season completed a remarkable turnaround in the two sides’ fortunes from a year ago. The defeat leaves Liverpool likely needing only three points from their three remaining games to guarantee a place in the Champions League.

In other Premier League action on Sunday, Bournemouth continued their stunning run of form with a dominant 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium, stretching their unbeaten streak to a record 15 matches. Evanilson opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a glancing header that deflected off Jefferson Lerma and looped over the line. Junior Kroupi doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute after Dean Henderson brought down Marcos Senesi inside the box. Rayan then sealed the result with a third goal in the 77th minute. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said, “The team is playing with so much confidence right now. Fifteen games unbeaten is incredible for this club, and we want to keep pushing for Europe. The young players like Kroupi and Rayan have been fantastic.”

The victory keeps Bournemouth firmly in the hunt for European qualification, while Palace remain in mid-table after a lacklustre performance that saw them fail to register a single shot in the first half.

The race for European qualification also intensified after Brentford’s positive outcome on Saturday helped them reduce the gap to the top five. Newcastle United’s victory over Brighton kept them firmly in contention as well. However, West Ham’s 3-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday left the Irons in danger of dropping into the relegation zone, sitting just two points ahead of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur.

With the season entering its final weeks, the Premier League table shows Arsenal leading on 76 points from 35 matches, followed by Manchester City on 70 points but with two games in hand. Manchester United sit third on 64 points following their victory over Liverpool, while Liverpool remain on 58 points alongside Aston Villa, who were set to face Tottenham Hotspur in the late kick-off on Sunday evening.
