Chelsea Complete Signing of Danny Welbeck on Two-Year Deal

Chelsea have officially completed the signing of experienced striker Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion on a two-year contract, adding one of the Premier League’s most seasoned forwards to manager Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the new season. Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed by either club.

Welbeck, 35, arrives at Stamford Bridge after enjoying one of the most productive campaigns of his career with Brighton. Last season, the former England international scored 14 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions, playing a key role in Brighton’s successful campaign and demonstrating that he remains a reliable attacking option despite entering the latter stages of his career.

Speaking after completing the move, Welbeck expressed his excitement about joining the London club.

Following spells with Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion, Welbeck has amassed more than 400 Premier League appearances and scored 16 goals in 42 matches for the England national team.

Chelsea supporters will hope Welbeck’s experience can help improve a side looking to return to the top of English football under Alonso. The striker is expected to join his new teammates immediately for the club’s pre-season preparations before Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign later this month.
