Super Falcons Under Pressure as Zambia Stand Between Them and Early WAFCON Exit

Nigeria’s Super Falcons head into a decisive Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 Group C encounter against Zambia under immense pressure after suffering a shocking 3-2 defeat to tournament debutants Malawi in their opening match. The defeat has left the defending champions needing a positive result to keep their title defence on track and avoid an early exit from the competition.

The loss exposed defensive weaknesses rarely associated with Africa’s most successful women’s national team and sparked widespread criticism from supporters and football analysts.
