CP Deploys Personnel to Schools, Mosques, Custodial Centers in Delta State
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, has ordered the immediate deployment of police personnel to schools, mosques, churches, and custodial centres across the state as part of a major security reinforcement effort.
The directive was issued during a strategic meeting with the command’s management team, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Departments . A statement released on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development.

CP Oyeniyi instructed all Area Commanders and DPOs to map out critical locations within their jurisdictions and ensure maximum security coverage. “Area commanders and DPOs must locate schools, churches, mosques, and correctional centres in their areas and ensure that maximum security is provided, and maintain regular visits,” he said.
The Commissioner expressed deep concern over rising incidents of murder in the state. He directed DPOs to engage community leaders and launch sensitisation campaigns to educate residents on peaceful conflict resolution.
“DPOs must engage members of the community they police on the need to avoid escalating issues that could lead to violence and sometimes death,” Oyeniyi stated.
He also warned that supervising officers would be held vicariously liable for any professional misconduct by personnel under their watch. The CP further ordered all officers to maintain proper dressing standards and display their name tags while on duty. “Any officer without a name tag on their uniform or approved tactical vest will be sanctioned and their supervising officer will be held vicariously liable,” he warned.
Oyeniyi urged DPOs to work closely with critical stakeholders to promote security awareness and vigilance across communities, emphasising that security remains a collective responsibility.
