Security Forces Repel Bandits, Recover 25 Stolen Cows in Sokoto Raid
Security operatives in Sokoto State have successfully foiled a bandit attack and recovered 25 rustled cattle following a swift response in a rural community in the state.
According to security sources and local reports, the incident occurred after armed bandits invaded a village in the eastern part of Sokoto State, attempting to steal livestock from residents.
However, a coordinated response by police tactical units and local security collaborators disrupted the operation, forcing the attackers to flee into nearby forests.
During the pursuit, officers recovered 25 cattle earlier taken by the suspects. The animals were later secured and are expected to be returned to their rightful owners after proper identification procedures.
Security authorities confirmed that no civilian casualties were recorded during the operation, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
The Sokoto State Police Command has intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations across rural communities in recent weeks due to recurring cattle rustling and bandit activities in parts of the state.
Officials have also urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies, noting that community cooperation remains critical in tackling rural insecurity.
This latest success adds to a series of recent operations in Sokoto where security forces have intercepted cattle rustlers and disrupted bandit movements across local government areas.
