At least eight children have been killed in a devastating mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, in what authorities describe as a domestic-related incident.

According to police, the victims; aged between one and 14 years, were among at least ten people shot across multiple locations early Sunday morning.

Officials say the violence began around 6 a.m., with shootings reported at several residences in the same neighbourhood, creating what investigators described as an extensive and complex crime scene.

The suspected gunman, believed to have familial ties to some of the victims, fled the scene after the attacks, carjacked a vehicle, and led police on a chase. The pursuit ended when officers confronted the suspect, who was fatally shot.

Authorities have indicated that the shooting appears to stem from a domestic disturbance and was not a random attack. However, the exact motive remains unclear as investigations continue.

Local officials have described the tragedy as one of the worst incidents in the city’s history. Shreveport Police say the scale of the violence; spanning multiple locations and involving young victims has shocked even experienced officers.

Emergency responders and investigators are still working to piece together the sequence of events, while the identities of the victims and the suspect have not yet been publicly released.
