NIGERIA GRADUATES 800 ELITE SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES TO BOOST FIGHT AGAINST INSECURITY
The Nigerian Ministry of Defence has announced the graduation of the first batch of 800 elite Special Operations Forces (SOF) in a bid to enhance the country’s fight against insecurity. The graduation ceremony took place at Camp Kabala, Jaji, Kaduna, and was attended by top government officials.

In a statement, Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, said the graduation represents a significant advancement in the Federal Government’s commitment to combatting insecurity in Nigeria. “You are now Nigeria’s frontline guardians in our collective war against terror, banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency,” Matawalle said. “You embody the resolve of our nation—proof that Nigeria will not succumb to fear.”

Matawalle emphasized that the SOF will play a crucial role in addressing security challenges in high-risk areas, including Zamfara, Kaduna, and the North-East. “You carry not just arms, but the honour of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the hopes of every Nigerian—farmers, students, children, and elders,” he said. “Be swift, be strategic, be just. Operate with precision. Fight with courage. Lead with honour. And always protect with humanity.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, commended the dedication and resilience displayed by both the trainees and their instructors. “The Special Operations Forces are a vital pillar in our national defence architecture,” Aduda said. Matawalle also urged the graduates to uphold the highest standards of discipline and ethics.

Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, also addressed the graduates, saying, “The Armed Forces is a disciplined and dignified institution. Let your moral compass guide every mission. Protect the innocent, uphold our laws, and honour your uniform.” Musa expressed gratitude to the President, Ministers of Defence, and all contributors to the success of the programme.
The graduation of this first cohort of Special Operations Forces marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to enhance its defence capabilities and respond effectively to internal and external security challenges.
