Nigerian-American Star Anosike Wins Big in China, Earns Praise from Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian-American basketball star Ejimofor Anosike following his standout performance in the 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) Championship in China.

Anosike, who plays for the Hong Kong Bulls, led his team to victory in the championship, securing the league title. His exceptional display throughout the tournament earned him multiple accolades, including the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best International Player, and Slam Dunk Champion.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, President Tinubu praised Anosike’s achievements, describing them as a reflection of talent, discipline, and resilience.

The President noted that the athlete’s success on the international stage brings pride to Nigeria and serves as an inspiration to young people across the country and the wider African continent.

He further emphasized that Anosike’s accomplishments highlight the growing global influence of Nigerian athletes and reinforce the need for sustained investment in youth development and sports.

Tinubu also commended the basketballer for maintaining a strong sense of patriotism, particularly through his contributions to Nigeria’s national men’s basketball team, D’Tigers.
