NIS Warns Nigerians Against Use of Third-Party Passport Platforms
The Nigeria Immigration Service has cautioned Nigerians against using unauthorised platforms for passport applications, declaring that any third-party channels should be treated as fraudulent.
In a statement released on Monday, the agency dismissed recent claims circulating online about irregularities in its passport application and payment system, describing them as false, misleading, and capable of causing public confusion.
The Service reaffirmed that its passport application process is fully digital, secure, and accessible միայն through its official portal for both Nigerians at home and those in the diaspora.
“The NIS operates a secure, transparent, and government-approved passport application system, which is accessible exclusively through its official portal,” the statement said.
The agency also denied any affiliation with religious organisations, private entities, or individuals in the processing or payment system for passports.
“At no time has the Service partnered with or authorised any religious organisation, private entity, or individual to act as an intermediary or receiving account on its behalf,” it added.
Addressing specific allegations that a religious body is linked to its payment structure, the NIS described such claims as entirely untrue and inconsistent with its operational framework.
The Service disclosed that it has commenced an investigation into the source of the misinformation and warned that those found responsible would face appropriate sanctions.
It urged the public to rely strictly on its official communication channels and avoid engaging with unofficial links or intermediaries when applying for passports.
