The North-Central Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has withdrawn its earlier ultimatum issued to the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and tendered an apology, saying its initial position was based on misinformation and misunderstanding of internal party developments.

The Forum had previously given Yilwatda a two-week ultimatum to resign or face legal action over alleged irregularities in the conduct of APC primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the group said it had reviewed the situation and found that its earlier stance was not properly informed.

According to the Forum, the withdrawal was aimed at preventing further tension within the ruling party and reinforcing internal unity as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.

“Our call for the resignation of the National Chairman was based on misinformation and a misunderstanding of the true situation,” the statement read.

“Having become aware of the true facts, we hereby withdraw the ultimatum and extend unreserved apologies to the national chairman and other leaders of the APC.”

The group also suggested that external influence may have contributed to its earlier position, adding that it was important to clarify its stance in the interest of party stability.

It stressed that it had no intention of destabilising the APC or creating divisions within its ranks.

“We have no intention of instigating a crisis or acting as an agent of destabilization within the party,” the Forum added.

Following the reversal, the North-Central APC Forum pledged full support for the party leadership and the National Working Committee (NWC), urging members to work together to secure victory for the APC in 2027 and ensure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
