Ogbeide-Ihama Gets PNGI Support for Edo South 2027, Hailed as ‘Beacon of Hope’
A political support group, the Progressive Next Generation Initiative, has thrown its weight behind the 2027 senatorial bid of Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama for the Edo South Senatorial District. Ogbeide-Ihama, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, previously served as the representative for Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023.
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 4, 2026, the group’s Convener, Jeffery Omoh Ozemegwa, hailed the former lawmaker as a “beacon of hope” and a leader who possesses the right qualities to offer outstanding representation. The organisation praised his track record in youth empowerment, leadership cultivation, and national development, stressing that his time in the National Assembly was defined by meaningful legislative work.
The statement noted his leadership as Chairman of the House Committee on Culture and Tourism, along with his service on numerous other committees, including those covering Environment and Habitat, Waterways, Power, Basic Education, Housing, and Public Petitions. The group also commended his work as Executive Director of Strategy and Commercial at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, an office where he has reportedly shown great skill and strategic direction.
According to the group, Ogbeide-Ihama has also sustained various initiatives through his foundation, which focus on empowerment, skill acquisition, and medical missions, all of which have positively affected young people in Edo State and further beyond. Describing him as “a patriot, visionary leader, and dependable partner in nation-building,” the group stated, “The next generation appreciates you. We commend your courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project.”
The convener restated PNGI’s dedication to encouraging informed political engagement and leadership responsibility within the APC, adding that the group operates as a data-focused and advocacy-driven platform. PNGI also voiced strong confidence in Ogbeide-Ihama’s ability to secure the party’s ticket, pointing to his past performance as evidence that he stands above other aspirants.
The statement further read, “As Nigeria approaches a critical political period, we remain committed to the ideals of transparency, accountability, and participatory governance in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.” The group concluded by wishing him well in the party’s screening process and expressing hope for his emergence as the APC flagbearer for Edo South Senatorial District in 2027.
