The African Democratic Congress has reaffirmed its readiness to participate fully in the 2027 general elections, dismissing speculations that it may be unable to field candidates due to internal controversies and legal disputes.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described such claims as “unfounded and mischievous scaremongering” with no basis in law or reality.

The party said that despite what it termed “recent distractions,” it remains committed to its objective of providing an alternative platform to what it called the misgovernance of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Abdullahi stressed that the ADC is fully prepared to field credible candidates across all levels in the 2027 elections, noting that the party remains focused on strengthening its structures nationwide.

According to him, the ADC continues to position itself as a leading opposition force, with ongoing efforts in organising, mobilising supporters, and consolidating its political base ahead of the polls.

He urged Nigerians to disregard claims suggesting otherwise, insisting that the party is in full compliance with all legal requirements and is actively preparing to contest and win elections.

The statement comes amid heightened political realignments and growing speculation about the future of opposition parties as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
