Oyo Demolishes Kidnappers’ Hideout Linked to Abduction of Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons
The Oyo State Government has demolished a residential building allegedly used as a hideout by suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction of relatives of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, in Ibadan.
The three-bedroom bungalow, located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun-Anaye Road axis of Ibadan, was pulled down on Monday as part of the state’s ongoing crackdown on criminal hideouts and kidnapping networks.
The demolished property was reportedly linked to the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, a relative of Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan.
The victims were subsequently rescued by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force following a coordinated tactical operation that led to the arrest of suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
Officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation supervised the demolition exercise, which was carried out with security support from police personnel.
The state government said the action sends a strong message to criminal elements operating within the state and underscores its commitment to eliminating safe havens used for kidnapping and other violent crimes.
According to government officials, the demolition forms part of broader measures aimed at strengthening security, dismantling criminal infrastructure, and protecting residents from the growing threat of abduction and related offences.
Authorities maintained that any property found to be aiding or facilitating criminal activities would face similar sanctions in line with the state’s security policies.
The government also commended security agencies for their swift response, which led to the rescue of the victims and the disruption of the suspected kidnapping network.
The incident has renewed concerns over kidnapping in parts of the country, with residents calling for sustained collaboration between government and security agencies to curb criminal activities and ensure public safety.
Security agencies say investigations into the case are ongoing, while efforts continue to identify and apprehend other members of the gang believed to be involved in the abduction.
