The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a suspected terror financier, Aminu Mai Roba, in a renewed crackdown on banditry and criminal financing networks in the state.

The suspect was intercepted along the Ruwa Wuri–Tangaza Road while allegedly transporting four cows linked to the Lakurawa terrorist group operating in Tangaza Local Government Area.

According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Shaffa, the arrest followed credible intelligence that enabled operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to track and apprehend the suspect.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect admitted receiving the cattle from members of the Lakurawa group with instructions to sell them and transfer the proceeds back to the network.

The recovered cattle have been registered as exhibits, while investigations are ongoing to uncover and dismantle the wider financing chain supporting criminal activities in the region.

The police also reported additional operational gains, including the repelling of a bandit attack on communities in Sabon Birni Local Government Area and the recovery of ammunition during pursuit operations.

According to the Command, 167 rounds of live ammunition were recovered after fleeing attackers abandoned them during a security engagement.

In separate raids, anti-kidnapping operatives arrested three suspects across different locations in Sokoto State, recovering weapons including locally made guns, an AK-47 magazine, a military uniform, cutlasses, and suspected cannabis.

CP Shaffa reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to curb insecurity in the state.
