Police Rescue Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons After Three Days in Captivity

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night operation that led to a gun battle with suspected kidnappers.

The victims were freed alive during a rescue mission conducted at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, according to security sources.

 

Mrs. John-Paul is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, .

 

Sources disclosed that two suspected kidnappers were killed during an exchange of gunfire with police operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the gang.

The victims were reportedly abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.

 

According to police sources, a combination of intelligence gathering, tracking operations, and sustained tactical pressure on the kidnappers led security operatives to the location where the victims were being held.

 

The operation culminated in a confrontation between the suspects and police personnel, resulting in the successful rescue of the woman and her children without reported injuries.

 

Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping syndicate believed to have escaped during the gun battle.

 

Sources said some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds and are being tracked across surrounding communities.

 

The police have yet to issue an official statement on the operation, but security sources described the rescue as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crime.
