Resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have commenced a seven-day warning strike, according to the association’s president, George Ebong.

The doctors are protesting against the poor state of healthcare infrastructure and neglect by the FCT authorities. Ebong explained that doctors in the territory are being pushed to their limits, often forced to handle responsibilities across multiple departments at once with dilapidated infrastructure.

“The health sector in the FCT have been facing structural challenges that require immediate and comprehensive intervention,” the doctors said. The strike aims to pressure the FCT administration to address the systemic issues plaguing the healthcare system.

The doctors are demanding urgent reforms to improve working conditions, infrastructure, and patient care. Without immediate attention, the strike may have severe consequences on healthcare delivery in the FCT.
