Spain Shooting Tragedy Leaves Two Dead, Four Hospitalised
At least two people have been killed and four others seriously injured following a shooting incident in southern Spain, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The attack occurred overnight in the city of El Ejido, located in Spain’s Almeria province. According to Spanish police and local media reports, a 25-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Authorities said the two victims who died were related to the suspected gunman, while the injured included a man, a woman, and two minors. Reports indicate that one of the injured children may be the suspect’s infant son. All four victims were rushed to hospitals and are said to be in serious condition.
The shooting reportedly began late Monday night in the El Canalillo area of El Ejido, prompting a major emergency response involving the Guardia Civil, local police units, and medical teams. The suspect was later apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday after allegedly fleeing the scene.
Investigators are currently probing the motive behind the attack, with preliminary findings suggesting it may be linked to a domestic dispute. Police are also investigating how the suspect obtained the firearm, as he reportedly did not possess a gun licence.
Gun-related violence remains relatively rare in Spain due to the country’s strict firearm regulations. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing as residents of the community remain in shock over the tragedy.
