Tinubu Storms Nairobi for Crucial Africa Summit on Trade, Climate, Digital Economy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, in the early hours of Monday for the Africa Forward Summit, a major continental gathering expected to chart new pathways for Africa’s economic growth, regional integration, and strategic global partnerships.

The Nigerian leader’s aircraft landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at about 12:18 a.m. local time, where he was received by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, alongside senior Kenyan officials and members of Nigeria’s diplomatic mission.

The summit is being co-hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, and is expected to bring together African Heads of State, investors, business leaders, development partners, and policymakers from across the globe.

Discussions at the summit will centre on economic transformation, trade expansion, infrastructure financing, climate resilience, food security, digital innovation, and sustainable development across Africa.

According to the Presidency, President Tinubu’s participation highlights Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening African unity, deepening regional economic cooperation, and promoting Africa-led solutions to the continent’s pressing challenges.

Tinubu is also expected to engage in a series of high-level bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at boosting Nigeria’s diplomatic influence, attracting investments, and expanding strategic partnerships with African countries and global stakeholders.

The President travelled with a high-powered delegation that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani; and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole.

Others on the delegation are Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal; Minister of State-designate for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye; Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change, Omotenioye Majekodunmi; and Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke.

The Africa Forward Summit is expected to produce fresh commitments on trade, investment, climate financing, and regional cooperation as African leaders seek stronger partnerships to accelerate development across the continent.
