President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a three-nation trip to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic engagements.

According to a statement issued on Friday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President will begin his trip in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the upcoming Africa-France Summit.

The summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, is scheduled to hold from May 11 to May 12. It will focus on key areas including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financing architecture.

With the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering is expected to bring together African and French leaders to deliberate on economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building initiatives.

The presidency said Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African countries and France, particularly in areas critical to sustainable development and investment.

Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to May 15. The forum, organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, is expected to host over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers.

The 2026 edition, themed “Scale or Fail,” will focus on driving economic transformation through regional integration, cross-border investment, and the development of competitive industries across Africa.

At both summits, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s economic reform agenda and engage with global and African business leaders to attract investment into Nigeria.
