U.S. President Donald Trump and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung held a phone call on Sunday to review the outcome of Trump’s recent summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to the South Korean presidential office.

The two leaders discussed key issues raised during the U.S.–China talks, including trade relations, regional security, and broader geopolitical developments, particularly those affecting the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East.

During the call, Trump reportedly briefed Lee on the main outcomes of his meeting with Xi, outlining discussions on economic cooperation, bilateral trade agreements, and strategic security matters.

Both leaders also emphasized the importance of stable U.S.–China relations for regional peace and global economic stability. Lee reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to close coordination with Washington, especially on issues relating to North Korea and the implementation of existing bilateral trade agreements.

The conversation comes shortly after Trump’s high-profile engagement with Xi Jinping, which focused on managing tensions between the world’s two largest economies, though it produced limited concrete breakthroughs.

Analysts say Seoul is closely monitoring the shifting dynamics between Washington and Beijing, given South Korea’s strategic position between the two powers and its reliance on both economic and security partnerships.
