The World Health Organization is expected to provide an update on recent developments involving outbreaks of Hantavirus infection and Ebola virus disease, following renewed global concern over infectious disease surveillance and containment.

The briefing comes amid reports of new or re-emerging cases linked to both diseases in different regions, prompting heightened monitoring by national health authorities and international partners.

Officials at the World Health Organization are expected to outline the current status of outbreaks, response measures, and risk assessments, as well as guidance for affected countries on containment, contact tracing, and infection prevention.

Health experts say the dual focus highlights ongoing challenges in managing zoonotic and viral haemorrhagic diseases, particularly in regions with limited healthcare infrastructure and rapid cross-border movement.

While details of specific locations involved have not yet been fully released, the WHO update is anticipated to clarify the extent of recent outbreaks and the global preparedness level.

The briefing is also expected to address vaccine research progress, emergency response coordination, and lessons learned from previous outbreaks aimed at strengthening global health security systems.
