Bamanga Tukur Buried In Yola As Dangote, Fintiri, Dignitaries Attend Funeral

The remains of former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bamanga Tukur, have been laid to rest at his family residence in Yola, Adamawa State.

Tukur, who died on Saturday at the age of 91, was buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites following funeral prayers attended by family members, friends, political associates and dignitaries from across the country.

The funeral prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque, Yola, Alhaji Ahmadu Bobboi, at about 10:50 a.m.

His remains were subsequently taken to the family residence at Fadde-Sanda along Abuja Road, Yola, where he was buried at about 11:30 a.m.

Among those who attended the funeral were businessman Aliko Dangote, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Senator Iya Abbas, representing Adamawa Central, and former Governor Jibrilla Bindow.

Traditional rulers, government officials, political associates, family members and other dignitaries from Adamawa and beyond also attended the burial.

Tukur was a prominent Nigerian politician and statesman who served as National Chairman of the PDP and previously held several public positions, including as the first civilian governor of the defunct Gongola State.

He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including the Adamawa State Secretary to the State Government, Awwal Tukur.
