European Powers Express Concern Over China’s Actions Off Eastern Taiwan

The United Kingdom, France and Germany have voiced growing concern over Chinese military and maritime activities off Taiwan’s eastern coast, warning that escalating operations in the region could heighten tensions and threaten stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The concerns were raised during diplomatic discussions and security consultations involving European and regional partners, amid increased monitoring of Chinese naval vessels and military aircraft operating near Taiwan. Analysts say recent activities have extended beyond the Taiwan Strait and into waters east of the self-governed island, an area traditionally viewed as strategically significant for Taiwan’s defense.
