PDP INAUGURATES ZONING COMMITTEE FOR NATIONAL CONVENTION
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated its National Elective Convention Zoning Committee at the national headquarters in Abuja. The 46-member committee, headed by Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, is tasked with repositioning the party ahead of its national convention slated for November 2025.

Acting PDP National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, who inaugurated the committee, expressed confidence in the leadership and charged the members to deploy wisdom, magnanimity, and experience to produce a robust formula for a successful convention. “The inauguration of this committee is the first step ahead of our convention. I urge the members to swing into action as we are racing against time,” Damagum said.

Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, commended the choice of Diri and other members, saying the committee has the capacity and pedigree to handle the assignment. “Our party has navigated so many booby-traps. We have travelled and covered the long distance and this milestone is worth celebrating with humility and focus,” Mohammed said.

Governor Diri, in his response, described the assignment as a huge responsibility that will be handled with commitment and dedication. “We will be consultative. We will partner and be inclusive in arriving at a fair and just formula for our party. Thank you for finding us worthy to discharge this assignment and we will do it to the best of our abilities,” Diri said.

The committee’s vice chairman and secretary are Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, and Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, respectively. With the inauguration, the PDP is one step closer to its national convention, and the committee is expected to work tirelessly to ensure a successful event.
