Shettima Joins Afenifere Leaders, Dignitaries to Celebrate Pa Fasoranti at 100
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday joined family members, political leaders and dignitaries in Akure, Ondo State, to celebrate the 100th birthday of elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti.

Shettima arrived in Akure on Monday morning for the centenary celebration of the respected Yoruba leader, whose life and contributions to education, democracy and regional development have attracted tributes from across Nigeria.

The Vice President was received at the Akure Airport by Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, alongside other top government officials and political leaders.
Security was tightened across major roads in Akure ahead of the visit, with personnel of the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and Amotekun Corps deployed to strategic locations around Pa Fasoranti’s residence and event venues.

The centenary celebration drew tributes from prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described Pa Fasoranti as a symbol of integrity, discipline and selfless service to the nation.

Pa Fasoranti, born on May 11, 1926, is widely regarded as one of the leading voices of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, and a prominent advocate of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

As part of his visit to Ondo State, the Vice President was also scheduled to inaugurate the Onyearugbulem Flyover project constructed by the Ondo State Government.
