The San Antonio Spurs are heading back to the NBA Finals after producing a stunning 111-103 road victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday night.

Led by French superstar Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio completed a remarkable playoff run by dethroning the reigning champions in front of a stunned Oklahoma City crowd. Wembanyama finished with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Julian Champagnie added 20 points, including six three-pointers, to help the Spurs secure the Western Conference title.

The victory marks San Antonio’s first trip to the NBA Finals since 2014 and continues the league’s recent trend of producing a new champion each season. Rookie Stephon Castle contributed 16 points, while De’Aaron Fox added 15 as the Spurs displayed the balanced team effort that carried them through the postseason.

Oklahoma City fought hard to defend its crown, with league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 35 points and dishing out nine assists. However, the Thunder struggled to find enough support around their star, particularly with key contributor Jalen Williams sidelined through injury.

One of the game’s defining moments came late in the fourth quarter when Spurs reserve center Luke Kornet delivered a crucial defensive stop, helping San Antonio maintain control after Wembanyama fouled out. The play proved pivotal as the Spurs held off Oklahoma City’s late rally to seal the series.

The Western Conference Finals victory also earned Wembanyama series MVP honors after a dominant seven-game performance that further cemented his status as one of the NBA’s brightest stars.
