Nigeria Defeat Jamaica to Lift Unity Cup in London
Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a solid victory over Jamaica on Saturday in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup, held at The Valley in Charlton, London, as they continued their dominance in the invitational tournament featuring diaspora-heavy football nations.
The match saw Nigeria take early control, with midfielder Alhassan Yusuf opening the scoring in the 3rd minute, giving the Super Eagles a fast start in front of a lively crowd. Jamaica responded with attacking pressure but struggled to break down Nigeria’s organised defence.
Nigeria doubled their lead in the second half through Terem Moffi, putting the game beyond Jamaica’s reach and sealing another international trophy for the West African side.
The Unity Cup, which features teams including Nigeria, Jamaica, India, and Zimbabwe, is designed to celebrate football connections within diaspora communities and has grown in popularity in recent editions.
For Jamaica, the defeat marks another missed opportunity to avenge previous encounters with Nigeria in the competition, while the Super Eagles continue their strong form in international friendlies ahead of future competitive fixtures.
