Nottingham Forest forward and Super EAGLES’ Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has been placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing emergency surgery in the UK. The 26-year-old suffered a serious abdominal injury during Sunday’s Premier League match against Leicester City, collapsing in visible pain toward the end of the game.

The club confirmed that the injury was “serious” and that Awoniyi is “recovering well so far.” In a statement, Nottingham Forest said: “The health and well-being of our players remain a top priority.”

The incident sparked emotional reactions, with club owner Evangelos Marinakis visibly distressed. However, the club has firmly denied speculation of a clash between Marinakis and head coach Nuno Espírito Santo, labeling such reports as “fake news.”

Nottingham Forest criticized pundits for spreading misinformation, emphasizing that their primary concern is the player’s health. Awoniyi’s condition marks the most severe medical scare of his career, amid previous injury struggles.
