President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has criticised the recent convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as “judicial rascality” and a “street convention,” while warning political actors against actions capable of undermining order and democratic norms.

The president spoke at a meeting with the leadership and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The mobilisation group is led by Hope Uzodimma.

During the engagement, Tinubu also pushed back against criticism of his economic reforms, declaring that he would not be intimidated by mounting political pressure.

He insisted that his administration would stay the course in implementing policies aimed at stabilising the economy and driving long-term growth.

“I will not be intimidated,” the president said, as he defended his reform agenda and reaffirmed his commitment to governance despite opposition.

Tinubu emphasised the need for national unity, urging Nigerians to rally around a shared vision for progress rather than deepen political divisions.

In a pointed remark, the president took a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of failing in his previous role overseeing privatisation. He further alleged that Atiku had attempted, unsuccessfully, to “privatise” the ADC.

The meeting, attended by key coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, underscored the administration’s ongoing efforts to mobilise grassroots support for its policies, even as political tensions continue to shape Nigeria’s evolving democratic landscape.

The latest comments is a continuation of sharp rhetoric within the political space, as leading figures position themselves amid ongoing debates over governance and reform.
