APC GOVERNMENT FILES FRESH LAWSUITS TO BLOCK ADC LEADERSHIP UNDER DAVID MARK AND AREGBESOLA

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has initiated a series of new legal challenges aimed at obstructing the newly elected leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). No fewer than fifteen fresh court cases have been lined up against the party’s new executives, led by Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

According to information, the cases are designed to frustrate the ADC’s emergence and are scheduled for accelerated hearings immediately following the judiciary’s return from its annual recess on September 28, 2025. Sources familiar with the strategy disclosed that a key objective of the litigation is to secure court orders restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the new ADC leadership.

This legal move coincides with INEC’s recent rejection of the party’s application for recognition. The commission cited alleged irregular signatures on the submitted documents, a claim the ADC strongly disputes. The party insists that all necessary documents and conditions for a leadership change were duly perfected.

It is reported that a worried Tinubu presidency has enlisted the services of “political undertakers” to institute the multiple suits against the party’s new leaders. Beyond the courtroom, informed sources revealed that prominent leaders and promoters of the new ADC have been marked for intimidation ahead of the 2027 general polls. The incidents last weekend involving former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Malami, both vocal ADC members, are described by party insiders as “coordinated harassment.”

Despite the mounting pressure, the ADC leadership reaffirmed its position yesterday. The party stated that it had fully complied with all constitutional requirements for a change of leadership and accused INEC of deliberately frustrating a lawful process.
