NATIONAL COMMITTEE DEFENDS UGWUANYI, CONDEMNS PDP SPOKESMAN’S REMARKS AS UNFOUNDED
The National Committee on Political Sanity and Decorum (NACOPS) has strongly criticized Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, who claims to be the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for his recent comments accusing former Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, of reducing himself to a personal assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. NACOPS described the remarks as an unfortunate diatribe and mudslinging.

In a statement, National Publicity Secretary Usman Abba dismissed the allegations as uncouth, uncharitable, and unfounded, asserting that Ugwuanyi remains a solid politician of a special class in Nigeria’s partisan politics. Abba emphasized that Ugwuanyi, fondly called Gburugburu, brought significant development to Enugu State during his tenure and is a pillar of the PDP, with his traducers merely jealous of his robust partnership with Wike. He stated, “Ugwuanyi remains a towering political Iroko tree, too big and tap rooted to be uprooted or distracted by the infinitesimal, clueless, confused, visionless, mannerless Ibrahim Abdullahi.”
Abba further highlighted that Ugwuanyi maintains and cherishes political relationships as a true Christian, devoid of acrimony and bitterness. He noted that the former governor’s close ties with Wike are built on mutual respect and have proven beneficial to Nigeria’s socio-political landscape. “Their collaboration has proven to be of immense benefit to Nigeria’s socio-political landscape and to humanity in general,” Abba said. He added that no amount of jealousy can sow discord between Ugwuanyi and Wike, whom he described as closest friends and political allies with a relationship as solid as the rock of Gibraltar.
The NACOPS spokesman also attacked Abdullahi’s credibility, questioning his electability and political pedigree. Abba argued that Abdullahi lacks depth and has never been elected or held executive office, making him inconsequential in political discussions. “Who is Ibrahim Abdullahi to speak when political leaders of Nigeria are talking? What is his pedigree?” Abba queried. He concluded that Ugwuanyi’s style of politics is robust and sets him apart from the polluted trends in Nigerian politics, affirming that he is a man of proven honor and integrity. The statement was signed by Oke Ndubuisi as President, Olawiola Victor as National Secretary, and Usman Abba as National Publicity Secretary.
