20-Year-Old RUGIPO Student Found Dead In Ondo Apartment
A 20-year-old Computer Engineering student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, popularly known as RUGIPO, has been found dead in his apartment in Owo, Ondo State, in a suspected suicide case.
The deceased, identified as Audi Emmanuel, was reportedly discovered lifeless in his rented apartment along Awolowo Road, Emure-Ile, in Owo Local Government Area.
Residents of the area said neighbours became alarmed after noticing a strong offensive odour coming from his room and repeatedly failed to reach him.
One of the neighbours explained that the door was eventually forced open, leading to the discovery of his body inside the apartment.
According to the resident, the situation left the neighbourhood in shock, as no one could immediately explain what might have led to the tragic incident.
Police were immediately contacted and officers arrived at the scene to evacuate the body.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State, Abayomi Jimoh, said the body had been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
He noted that preliminary observations suggest a suspected suicide, but stressed that a full investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the death.
“The Ondo State Police Command confirms the report of a suspected suicide incident involving a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, who was found dead in his residence,” he said.
Jimoh added that the command sympathised with the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to seek support and speak up during periods of emotional distress.
