GOVERNOR SULE BOOTS OUT NASARAWA AIDE OVER ALLEGED SUPPORT FOR GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dismissed Architect Ahmed Sarki Usman from his position as Senior Special Assistant on Works, Housing, and Transport effective immediately. The termination, conveyed via an October 7, 2025 letter by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji (SAN), stems from Usman’s alleged breach of a government directive restricting political activities by appointees.

Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji cited a September 11, 2025 circular barring political appointees from identifying with governorship aspirants pending Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) clearance for 2027 polls. Usman, a former Doma Local Government Council Chairman, reportedly persisted in associating with a particular aspirant despite warnings, contravening the Electoral Act and diminishing gubernatorial office stature.

“While appreciating your services to the government and people of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, the Governor wishes you success in your future endeavors,” Dr. Magaji stated, conveying Governor Sule’s appreciation for past service while emphasizing non-tolerance of electoral involvement by appointees. Usman’s dismissal underscores Sule’s stance on appointee neutrality amid 2027 polls.
