Nigeria Targets Chinese Investment In Oil, Gas Projects At Dongying Exhibition
Nigeria is set to court Chinese investment, technology and engineering partnerships for major oil and gas projects as a delegation of industry executives, project developers and subnational investment representatives heads to the 2026 China (Dongying) International Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment and Technology Exhibition (CDYPE).
The 19th edition of the exhibition is scheduled for September 28 to 30 in Dongying, Shandong Province, China, bringing together energy companies, financiers, equipment manufacturers and engineering firms from across the global petroleum industry.
The Nigerian delegation is expected to use the three day event to present bankable projects to Chinese investors and engineering companies, with discussions covering gas monetisation, midstream infrastructure, refining, petrochemicals, upstream development and industrial infrastructure.
Dongying is a major petroleum industry centre in China and home to the Shengli Oilfield. The city has also developed extensive capabilities in petroleum equipment manufacturing, refining and specialised oil and chemical logistics.
Organisers said more than 500 industrial exhibitors and about 20,000 international delegates are expected at the exhibition. Major Chinese energy companies expected to participate include Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, CNOOC, PipeChina, Shengli Oilfield and Kerui Petroleum.
The Nigerian mission is being organised by Oraso Consulting Ltd in collaboration with the Nigeria China Strategic Partnership, the Embassy of Nigeria in China and the CDYPE Organising Committee.
Iron Capital Partners Ltd will serve as Lead Financial and Advisory Partner, providing support on project bankability, credit rating advisory, payment security structures and public private partnership arrangements.
A key feature of the programme will be the Nigeria Country Focused Session, where Nigerian project owners will engage directly with Chinese capital providers, engineering groups and technology companies.
The projects expected to be presented include mini LNG plants, CNG distribution networks, LPG depots, gas to power projects, modular refineries, petrochemical facilities and storage infrastructure.
The delegation will also explore Chinese technology and engineering support for upstream oil and gas development, drilling services and deepwater infrastructure, alongside partnerships for special economic zones, industrial parks, ports and logistics facilities.
According to the organisers, the engagements will continue beyond the exhibition through private business to business and government to business meetings between matched Nigerian and Chinese counterparts.
They said subsequent activities would include technical due diligence, term sheet development and commercial negotiations, with the aim of advancing viable projects towards financing and execution.
