The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, has withdrawn from the 2027 Bauchi State governorship race, ending months of speculation over his political ambitions.

Pate announced his decision in a 10-minute video message delivered in Hausa and shared on social media, stating that the move followed “deep reflection and wide consultations” with stakeholders and supporters.

He explained that his decision was driven by a desire to continue serving Nigeria at the national level, particularly in advancing development priorities across the country and Northern Nigeria.

“It is unlikely that I will run for governorship in 2027, and I assure you that you will not regret the love and support you have shown me throughout this period,” he said.

Despite stepping aside from the race, the minister pledged to remain actively involved in the political process in Bauchi State, including supporting the emergence of credible candidates.

“There are many aspirants seeking elective positions. At the appropriate time, I will support those who have the genuine interest of the people at heart, not self-centred leaders. We will identify the best candidates during the primaries,” he added.

Pate also urged other aspirants to remain patient and rally behind whoever emerges from party primaries, noting that personal ambition should be secondary to collective progress.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working for the victory of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State across all levels in the next election cycle.

The minister expressed appreciation to his supporters and promised to intensify efforts in delivering impactful interventions in the health sector.
