Super Eagles Star Fires Galatasaray to Historic Fourth Consecutive Turkish League Crown
Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray clinched a historic fourth consecutive Turkish Super Lig title with a dramatic 4-2 comeback victory over Antalyaspor at RAMS Park in Istanbul on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The win secured a record-extending 26th league championship for the Yellow-Reds, matching the club’s golden run between 1996 and 2000.

The Nigerian international produced a second-half brace to overturn a deficit that twice threatened to spoil the title party in front of a packed home crowd. Antalyaspor stunned the hosts just before the interval when Soner Dikmen fired the visitors ahead. The nerves deepened after the restart when Mario Lemina came off the bench to level in the 56th minute, only for Dikmen to strike again six minutes later with a superb free-kick, restoring the visitors’ lead.
Osimhen then took control of the contest. The Super Eagles forward won and calmly converted a penalty in the 66th minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2-2. He completed his brace in the 88th minute, firing home from close range after sustained pressure from the hosts forced a defensive error. Substitute Kaan Ayhan added a late fourth deep into stoppage time to seal the victory and spark wild celebrations among the home supporters.
The result secured Galatasaray’s fourth straight league title under manager Okan Buruk, who became only the second person after Pep Guardiola to win four consecutive league titles in Europe’s top 10 leagues both as a player and a manager, while also becoming the first to achieve the feat with the same club.
Following the victory, Osimhen issued a defiant warning to Galatasaray’s rivals during a live broadcast on his social media account. Speaking directly to the club’s competitors, the Nigerian striker declared, “Keep talking. We’ll be back here next season. We’ll come again next season. We’re coming”.
He added emphatically, “Istanbul is ours. We’ll handle it. I promise you. You’re just trying. Keep trying. Many of you can’t do anything! Whatever you do, you can’t stop me, you can’t stop us! You won’t be able to stop us!”
Osimhen has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s title-winning campaign, with the Nigerian forward now boasting 22 goals and eight assists across all competitions this season. The former Napoli striker has registered a goal or assist in each of his last 11 league appearances . His career honours now include the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, the Serie A title, and back-to-back Turkish league crowns alongside last season’s Turkish Cup.
Galatasaray entered the match four points clear of arch-rivals Fenerbahce and needed only a positive result to secure the trophy. Manager Okan Buruk had cancelled a planned holiday after a shock defeat to Samsunspor the previous week, with reports suggesting the squad were promised a €5m bonus for sealing the title at home.
Since completing his move to Turkey, Osimhen has become central to Galatasaray’s attack, delivering goals, assists, and leadership in key moments of the season. The league triumph adds another major milestone to the striker’s growing career and further strengthens his reputation as one of Africa’s leading football stars. For Galatasaray, Saturday’s victory was confirmation of their continued dominance in Turkish football as they celebrated yet another championship crown.
