VICE ADMIRAL IBOK-ETE EKWE IBAS APPOINTED ADMINISTRATOR OF RIVERS STATE

In a move aimed at restoring peace and order in Rivers State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the administrator of the state. This development comes on the heels of the president’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State due to the persistent political crisis that has plagued the state.
Vice Admiral Ibas, a renowned military strategist and administrator, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Born on September 27, 1960, in Nko, Cross River State, Ibas enlisted in the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1979 and was commissioned as a sub-lieutenant in 1983.

Throughout his illustrious military career, Ibas has attended several prestigious military institutions, including the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the National Defence College, Islamabad, Pakistan. He holds a master’s degree in defence and strategic studies from Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan.
As the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff, Ibas played a crucial role in promoting maritime security and curbing crude oil theft in Nigeria. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in transforming the Nigerian Navy into a formidable force.

In his new role as administrator of Rivers State, Ibas is expected to bring his expertise and experience to bear in addressing the state’s security challenges and promoting peace and stability. As he takes on this new challenge, Ibas has pledged to work tirelessly to restore normalcy to the state and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
