Trump: New Iran Agreement States ‘Loud and Clear’ That Tehran Cannot Have Nuclear Arms

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the memorandum of understanding recently reached between the United States and Iran makes it unequivocally clear that Tehran will not be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump said the agreement’s most important provision is its commitment to preventing Iran from developing nuclear arms. He added that the text of the memorandum would be released publicly in the near future.

“The only thing that really matters to me is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told reporters, insisting that the document states the position “loud and clear.”

The memorandum serves as an interim framework agreement and is expected to launch a new phase of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
