EDO GOVERNMENT BEGINS REHABILITATION OF SAPELE-BENIN HIGHWAY
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commenced the rehabilitation of the old Sapele Road and other adjoining roads in Benin City. The development was announced by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the State Governor, Fred Itua, who said the move is to ease traffic gridlock and reduce congestion on the main roads. According to Itua, the remedial works are part of the State Government’s efforts to improve the quality of life of the citizens. Governor Okpebholo, while inspecting some of the ongoing road projects, assured Edo people of transparency and accountability in the use of revenues accruing to the state. The Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing federal allocations to the States, saying his administration is utilizing the resources from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to develop and grow the economy of the state. “Whatever we are doing as an administration in Edo State, we are doing for the benefit of Edo people,” Okpebholo said. The Old Sapele Road project, upon completion, is expected to divert traffic from the main road, reducing heavy vehicular movement and incidence of traffic gridlock in the axis. Okpebholo urged Edo people to unite and collaborate in developing and growing the economy for the benefits of all. “Edo belongs to us, and it is our responsibility as citizens of the state to unite and collaborate in developing and growing the economy for the benefits of all Edo people,” he said.
