EDO STATE GOVERNOR APPROVES N1 BILLION SOFT LOAN FOR MARKET WOMEN ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved N1 billion in soft loans for market women in the state to help boost their businesses and improve their lives. This announcement was made as Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Fred Itua, said Governor Okpebholo commended Edo women for their steadfastness, dedication, and commitment to moving the state forward. The governor stated that his administration has approved the N1 billion soft loan to improve the businesses of market women and boost the economy. Governor Okpebholo said, “Since I assumed office as Governor of Edo State, this is the first event that has been very colourful. We can actually do nothing as men without the women, and that was why when a memo came before me on soft loan approval, I quickly approved N1 billion for our market women.” He added that the process is ongoing, and the relevant financial institution is being consulted for disbursement. Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Edesili Anani Okpebholo, urged Edo women to speak out and add value to their careers, communities, and life endeavors. She commended Governor Okpebholo for taking decisive steps to ensure equal opportunities and justice for Edo women. Itua noted that the event was organized by the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, with women from various segments of the nation’s economy in attendance.
