PORTABLE ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED CRIMINAL DEFAMATION AND THREAT TO LIFE

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The arrest followed a petition submitted by Fuji singer Saheed Osupa, who accused Portable of using abusive and insulting words against him. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed in a statement that the allegations against Portable are serious and include criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and the use of abusive and insulting words. “In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the Command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” the statement read. Acting on the court order, police operatives from the Kwara Command proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where Portable was apprehended around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday. He was immediately brought to Ilorin for further investigations. Upon his arrival, Portable’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi added that Portable is currently in custody, with plans underway to charge him in court without delay. “The Kwara State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served in a fair and transparent manner,” Ejire-Adeyemi said. The arrest marks the climax of the heightened tension created over the feud and spat between the two musicians over copyright claims. Portable had previously attacked Osupa, mocking his physique and questioning his relevance in the music industry, before later issuing an apology and blaming his outburst on greed.

PORTABLE TURNS HIMSELF IN TO POLICE AFTER BEING DECLARED WANTED

Portable, a popular Nigerian singer, has surrendered himself to the police after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command. He turned himself in on the morning of February 19 at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, Lagos. According to Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up”. Portable’s decision to comply with law enforcement comes after the police in Ogun State issued a wanted notice for him on February 17. Authorities have confirmed that he is currently being transported to Ogun State, where he will be handed over to the police for further investigation and legal proceedings. The reasons for his wanted status remain undisclosed by the police at this time. However, sources suggest that the musician has been involved in a legal dispute requiring his presence. The Ogun State Police Command is expected to release further information regarding the case as investigations progress. It’s worth noting that Portable was accused of leading a violent attack on government officials who were carrying out their lawful duties. The altercation involved three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, who were on an enforcement mission at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
