EDO STATE GOVERNMENT EMBARKS ON MASSIVE RECONSTRUCTION OF SCHOOLS

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that his administration has embarked on the reconstruction, renovation, and remodeling of over 100 schools across the three Senatorial Districts of the State. In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to Edo State Governor, Fred Itua, said another set of 120 schools are already earmarked for reconstruction, renovation, and remodeling across the State. Okpebholo noted that the massive infrastructural development in the education sector marks his government’s commitment to ensuring that Edo children get the best facilities in terms of learning. He attributed the progress in the education sector to his administration’s keying into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “This is a demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You can see massive work is ongoing across schools in Edo State,” Okpebholo said. Commissioner for Education, Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, described the infrastructural development of the State by Okpebholo as “very interesting.” Iyamu said working with a Governor who says what he means and means whatever he says is a plus for Edo people, as the Governor’s words are backed by actions. Itua noted that projects are ongoing across the three Senatorial Districts of Edo State, with the pupils, students, parents, and host communities expressing happiness with the development. On the plans to employ 100 teachers for technical schools across the State, Iyamu said the Governor asked for a needs assessment exercise which was carried out and the report submitted to him, hence the need for the recruitment. Itua stated that the Governor has approved the employment of 100 teachers for the three technical schools in the State, based on the needs assessment to meet the desired goals. Chairman of State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), Barr. (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs, said the Okpebholo administration has achieved a lot within just 100 days in office. Fred Itua stated that Briggs joined the Governor and other officials to monitor the construction of schools across Edo State and expressed satisfaction with the infrastructural development in the sector. “Considering the fact that we are just 100 days in office, Governor Monday Okpebholo has done a lot as many schools across the three Senatorial Districts of the State are undergoing massive construction,” Briggs said.

OKPEBHOLO RENOVATES 100 SCHOOLS IN EDO STATE TO MARK 100 DAYS IN OFFICE

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has embarked on an ambitious project to renovate and reconstruct 100 schools across the state, marking his 100 days in office. This initiative aims to provide a conducive learning environment for students and improve the overall quality of education in the state. According to Mrs. Onomen Goodness Briggs, Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the project includes furnishing the schools with new chairs and tables. “You can’t put new wine in an old wine skin,” she said. “We need the buildings to be good and okay, then furniture can go in.” Briggs visited several schools in the Oredo and Egor local government areas, including Ebo Primary School, Ore-Oghene Primary School, Evbareke Junior Secondary School, Use Junior Secondary School, and Okhekhugbo Primary School. She noted that the renovation and reconstruction works would be completed within one to three weeks. The governor’s administration is also prioritizing security measures, including fencing and security posts, to prevent vandalism and theft. “Security is one major issue we have to look into,” Briggs said. “We need to sensitize the communities so that they can put an eye on these properties.” Briggs called on communities, parents, and residents to help check vandalism of school facilities, emphasizing that the children are the ones who will suffer if these facilities are destroyed. “We did five today, we have a hundred currently going on all across the state,” she said. “We are going to Edo central and Edo North within the week.”
