President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday met with Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the State House in Abuja, days after a deadly attack in Worro community, Kaiama Local Government Area, that claimed over 100 lives.

Authorities have attributed the assault to suspected jihadist fighters.

In response, President Tinubu ordered the immediate deployment of an army battalion to the area and approved the creation of a new military command to oversee Operation Savannah Shield, aimed at countering terrorist activity and safeguarding vulnerable communities.

Describing the attack as “cowardly and inhumane,” the President condemned the targeting of residents for refusing extremist ideology and choosing instead to practice Islam peacefully.

He called for enhanced coordination between federal and state agencies to support affected communities and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.

The meeting at the Presidential Villa also included the Senate President, the Chairman of the ruling APC, and the governors of Imo, Kebbi, and Cross River states.
