2027: ADC Releases Primary Election Timetable, Fixes Nomination Fees

The African Democratic Congress has released its timetable for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, outlining key dates for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, and party primaries.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the schedule underscores the party’s commitment to internal democracy, orderliness, and compliance with electoral guidelines.

According to the timetable, the sale of nomination forms will take place from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while submission of completed forms is slated for May 11 to May 13.

Screening of aspirants will hold between May 14 and May 15, with results expected on May 17. Appeals are scheduled for May 18 and 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 20.

The party said primary elections will begin on May 21, 2026, with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats holding simultaneously at the ward level. Governorship primaries are fixed for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.

A meeting of the National Executive Committee will follow on May 26, ahead of a Special National Convention on May 27 where final ratifications are expected.

Nomination Fees Announced

ADC also unveiled its fee structure for aspirants seeking elective positions.

The presidential nomination form has been pegged at ₦100 million, while governorship forms cost ₦50 million. Senate aspirants are to pay ₦20 million, House of Representatives ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly ₦3 million.

To encourage inclusivity, the party announced a 50 percent discount for youths, as well as a 25 percent concession for women and persons with disabilities.

The ADC urged party members, stakeholders, and aspirants to strictly adhere to the timetable and guidelines as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
