60 Years Old Grandmother Found Naked, Murdered in Badagry Bush
Residents of Oke Egan in the Ilogbo-Eremi area of Badagry, Lagos State, have been thrown into shock following the discovery of the body of a 60-year-old woman, Victoria Adegoke, in a nearby bush. The grandmother was found unclothed in the early hours of Friday, sparking suspicions that she was raped and strangled before her body was dumped at the scene.
A community leader who spoke anonymously due to the sensitivity of the incident disclosed that Adegoke was discovered around 6:10 am. She had reportedly just returned from a programme at The Joy of Christ Ministry, popularly known as Ayo Jesu Church. “The deceased is someone I know. Her daughter stays abroad,” the source said. “It was while she was returning home around six in the morning that she was reportedly attacked”.
Photographs obtained from the scene suggest the victim’s hands may have been tied by her assailants. The attackers allegedly removed her clothes and underwear before strangling her. “The suspects removed her clothes and underwear. They strangled her and also took her phone. Her ATM card and Bible were found at the scene,” a community source explained.
Another resident, identified only as Adeola, described the killing as heartbreaking, questioning why an elderly woman would be subjected to such brutality. “She should be between 65 and 68 years old. Passersby found her body inside the bush and reported the matter at the police post in Ilogbo-Eremi,” Adeola stated.

Local residents have expressed concern about the rising insecurity in the area, which lies along the boundary between Lagos and Ogun states. A community member noted that this is not an isolated incident. “The community is along the boundary between Lagos and Ogun states and is known for criminal activities. This is not the first time such a crime has happened here. In fact, this would be about the fourth such incident reported in the area,” the source revealed.
The condition in which the victim was found has fueled suspicions of sexual assault. “She was a grandmother, not a young woman. She was found naked, and it was when the police arrived that her body was covered. Her pants had been removed, which suggested she was raped,” a resident added.
Efforts to get an official reaction from the Lagos State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, did not respond to calls or messages at the time of this report. However, residents believe the victim’s stolen phone could help investigators track down the assailants.
