US President Donald Trump has said a deal to end the ongoing conflict with Iran could be finalized within days, raising hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough after months of hostilities. However, Iranian officials have cautioned that no final agreement has yet been reached.

Speaking on the progress of negotiations, Trump said discussions had advanced significantly and suggested that a formal agreement could be signed as early as this weekend. He also indicated that planned US military strikes had been suspended amid what he described as positive developments in talks between Washington and Tehran.

The proposed framework reportedly includes measures aimed at reducing tensions, reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, and creating a pathway for further negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security issues.

However, Tehran quickly pushed back against claims that a deal had been completed. Iranian officials said reports of a finalized agreement were premature, stressing that important issues remain unresolved and that no final decision has been made by the country’s leadership.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry maintained that while negotiations have made progress, Tehran will not compromise on what it considers its core national interests, including sanctions relief and other key demands.

The conflicting statements highlight the fragile nature of the negotiations, which have been accompanied by continued military tensions in the Gulf region despite ongoing diplomatic efforts. Analysts say a successful agreement could help stabilize global energy markets and ease concerns over disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Regional powers, including Gulf states, have reportedly supported efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire, though questions remain over the final terms and implementation of any agreement.
