The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has dismissed as fake a purported list of consensus candidates for the State House of Assembly elections currently circulating on social media.

In a statement issued on May 4, 2026, the party described the list as “unauthorized and misleading,” stressing that it did not originate from any official organ of the party.

“We state unequivocally and without reservation that this list is fake, unauthorized, and does not emanate from the Party in any form whatsoever,” the statement said.

The party accused those behind the publication of attempting to create confusion within its ranks and mislead party members, aspirants, and the public.

According to the APC, no consensus list has been discussed, approved, or ratified by its leadership in the state, describing claims to the contrary as false.

“For the avoidance of doubt, no list of candidates has been discussed, adopted, or ratified by the leadership of the Party in Delta State. Any claim to the contrary is false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” the statement added.

The party explained that the process for the sale and submission of nomination and expression of interest forms is still ongoing, making any claim of finalized candidates premature.

It reiterated that while the party had indicated a preference for consensus primaries in line with its guidelines, the process remains incomplete.

“The Party cannot be seen to have purportedly adopted candidates while this process is yet to conclude,” it said, describing the circulating list as a deliberate fabrication.

The APC distanced itself entirely from the document and urged stakeholders to rely only on verified party communications.

“Delta APC firmly and completely disassociates itself from the said list in its entirety,” the statement noted.

The party also warned individuals responsible for spreading the information to desist from actions capable of undermining unity within its ranks.

Reaffirming its position, the APC assured members and the public of its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive primary election process.

The statement was signed by the Delta State APC Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, who urged stakeholders to seek information only from official party channels.
